What Are The 4 Oldest Minecraft Servers That Are Still In Operation?

Minecraft has been around for many years in the past, and its popularity is ever increasing however, since its official release on November 18th in 2011, increasing numbers of servers have grown, died and disappeared. However, four servers have been with Minecraft for the last 12 years it has been in existence, some rife with drama and chaos, and others a peaceful haven for those who want to be friends.

DONALD, Australia, June 8, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb -DONALD, Australia, June 8, 2022 -

Position 1 - Novylen

Date of Creation: April 9, 2010.

Created by the company rbos

Address: minecraft.novylen.net

The Novylen Minecraft Server located in Canada has the official title of oldest Minecraft Server ever built, on the 9th day of April the year 2010, four months prior to the previous holder, MinecraftOnline. But if you read previously, you'd notice that MinecraftOnline was released on the same day that multiplayer was launched, so how was Novylen developed prior to this?

Although the server was launched on the same day Minecraft Multiplayer was released it was designed by rbos during Minecraft's InfDev period (specifically InfDev 2010.0413), which was four months prior to the release of Minecraft Multiplayer. To top it off, the server has never once been reset, meaning the player could have hopped onto the server over 10 years ago, built something, and then left forever and their work being the only evidence of their existence. Novylen is also from being as popular as 2b2t, meaning it hasn't faced the same fate of countless hacks, flimsy exploits and griefs. This leads to many of the original designs of 2010 still being visible even today!

Position 2 - Nerd.nu

Date of Creation Date of Creation: June 10, 2009. *

Created by: (unknown); Current Head Admins: defiex fazaden, pez252

Address: nerd.nu

Nerd.nu was established for the first time on June 10, 2009, only three days after Minecraft's official Multiplayer release, Version 0.0.16a. Survival mode was not a feature of Minecraft at this time. As you can see from the image above, many designs from different time periods of Minecraft have been built on Nerd.nu. There have been numerous game modes added to the server over the years. The most popular and oldest is the 'Creative' one that allows players to fly and build whatever they want.

Although the server was built in the beginning there are those who believe that MinecraftOnline is much older than it is. This is due to the map having been reset many times over the years, which means it's not the same as it was 20 years ago. The Creative game mode developed by Nerd.nu is currently in its 36th revision. It has been reset 35 times prior to that.

Nerd.nu was not considered to be the oldest server due to the previously mentioned resets of servers. It's world is relatively young. Position 3 - Minecraft Online Date of Creation: August 4, 2010 Created by: SlowRiot

Address: MinecraftOnline.com

MinecraftOnline was launched on August 4th, 2010 and has since enjoyed the status of being the oldest server in Minecraft's history given that it was created within an hour of Notch releasing survival multiplayer mode. Since then, and with astonishment the server has remained in operation and hasn't been reset a single time. But why doesn't it look like the cobblestone sludge 2b2t is?

Amazingly, MinecraftOnline has had a staff team since its inception, and unlike 2b2t, MinecraftOnline has rules that players must follow. However, it's not always the case that players follow the rules though, as in the 12 years that it has been running, over 43,000 players have been banned. It's not just that. The size of the world (remember, it has never been reset) has grown to 26GB, which is just one world.

Address: 2b2t.org

Date of Creation: December 1, 2010. *

2b2t is among the most popular Minecraft servers. Since its creation on December 10, 2010, 2b2t has been notorious as an 'anarchy' server, where there is an utter lack of rules with thousands of players using hacked client systems, and a lack of friendliness, giving the server it's distinct, beaten-up landscape. The most prominent feature of the server is its map. It has not been changed since it was first created. This means that a lot of players have left over the years leaving their marks on the server.

2b2t was a constant stream of players during its early days. Over time it fluctuated between 10-80. In June 2016 however, things changed when TheCampingRusher uploaded his very first video. Since then, countless other YouTubers have recorded on the server, making 2b2t it's popularity known today. In 2022, the server constantly exceeds 1000 users during peak times and it doesn't look like that number will decrease anytime soon.

In conclusion, as well as these servers, a number of other servers also are from the 2011 era. Not all servers have been around so long, and

Popularity isn't just a matter of the past. Minecraft Server Lists have also existed since this time and provide a list of the best Minecraft servers around. A server list (or server databank) is a list that contains information about the server. This typically includes details like a server's name as well as its IP address and ports.
